Renowned Landscape Photographer to Lecture in Salt Lake City

The Wasatch Camera Club is pleased to announce David Muench will be visiting the state and making presentations at the club’s PhotoOp 12, Saturday, March 24. David Muench is one of the top ten landscape photographers in the world today. His wealth of knowledge gained from a lifetime of photography makes him a rich resource for area photographers.

David Muench is known for pioneering often imitated styles to landscape photography. Muench combines his excellent eye for detail with his love for the outdoors. For him the fundamental concept is to present the wilderness to his audiences so they may be inspired to explore and protect it. David Muench is known for being very detail oriented to ensure each element in his photographs contributes to the magnificence and grandeur of the image.

Muench’s work has been exhibited in numerous museums and galleries, including the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, and Mountain Light Gallery in Bishop, California. A shared exhibit with Ansel Adams and Jack Dykinga was mounted at the Phoenix Art Museum, The Center for Creative Photography, and the Museum of Northern Arizona. He was commissioned by the National Park Service to provide 33 photographic murals presenting the landscapes of the Lewis and Clark expedition. These are on permanent display at the Jefferson Expansion Memorial under the Arch in St. Louis. Monumental in concept, the 15 foot tall panels extend more than 350 feet along their wall. His work also hangs in numerous private collections. He has published over 50 exhibit format books.

1:00pm - 3:00pm - Lecture on Composition, Lighting, Location/Subject Selection, Natural Connection, Timeless Moments, Ancient Connections and the Greater Spirit

3:00 - 3:30pm - Break

3:30pm - 5:30pm - Photo Critique Session; critiques for 25 participants. For camera club members only.
