When we came across Ingrid Endel's stunning conceptual portraits, we knew we had to share her work here with you. Ingrid started shooting back in 2009 after a knee injury that kept her from dancing. We asked Ingrid to tell us a little about herself and her work. Enjoy!
I'm a fine art photographer based in Brisbane, Australia. My photography is strongly influenced by dance and movement, the connection between humans and nature, and storytelling. I aim to create scenes of imaginary worlds in which the body tells the story. Self portraiture has enabled me to use my skills as a dancer to extend the boundaries of human expression.
I plan each photo, from the location, props, costume and time of day to the final look (colours, contrast, etc). I often shoot when it's overcast or just after the sun has gone down, and I always use a tripod and remote. I spend hours editing each photo until it resembles the image in my mind.
I use a Canon 5D Mark II with the 50mm f/1.4 lens and Adobe Photoshop CS3.
