They're doing it again! The annual Canyons trip to Page AZ and Lake Powell. Work along side Utah-based photographers and nice guys, Drake Busath and Randy Collier, both 30-year pros and accomplished travel photographers. This is a hands-on workshop with daily on-screen critique that assures you’ll go home a better photographer, no matter what your experience level. Photograph some of the most dramatic canyons in the world and sharpen your skills, both technical and artistic.
Just outside Page, AZ, we’ll spend time in both Upper Antelope Canyon and less-traveled Lower Antelope, both on private land and accessible only with local Navajo guides.
Lake Powell is one of the world’s truly unique landscapes. We’ll take you out by private boat into this "other-world" of shear red sandstone cliffs plunging into the warm water of Powell. Only by small boat can we explore a labyrinth of narrow canyons and hike access secluded slot canyons reachable by few. A picnic dinner on the beach caps off the day.
Horseshoe Bend is where the mighty Colorado River turns dramatically on itself. This is an early morning hike, about 1.5 miles round trip over gentle terrain. Bring your widest lens for this tremendous view.
We’ll make stops for Kristin’s favorite overviews of Lake Powell from above and the dramatic Glen Canyon Dam.
Photo tours are only as good as their trip director, so Drake has enlisted Kristin Poulsen, a native of Southern Utah and Page, AZ for the second year. She's the one who keeps the group on time, well fed, and always fully informed. That's critical so that the instructors can spend all of their time instructing.
Participants can meet the group in Page, AZ on Oct. 12, 2013. Or, join for some pre-workshop shooting in Zion a day earlier.

If you have the time, you can join Drake and Randy for a pre-workshop visit to photograph Zion National Park. A post-workshop stay at Grand Canyon's North Rim Lodge will round out the trip. These stops are in response to popular demand from people coming from distant places. It drives them crazy to be that close to the big canyons and not see them. One night in Zion and one night at Grand Canyon are included.
