Manfrotto Wraps Their Arms Around New Hydrostatic Development
World’s First Hydrostatic Arm for Video Market
Amsterdam, The Netherlands At this year’s IBC, Manfrotto, the leading manufacturer of photographic and video support products, will feature the new line of hydrostatic arms for the video market. The arms, the world’s first to feature hydrostatic technology, are available in three different lengths to accommodate any need.
The new 823 hydrostatic arm is the first to feature both 5/8" and 1/ 4" pins to support larger and heavier items. With a total length of 23.5cm/9.25in, the 823 is ideal for positioning light fixtures or cameras virtually anywhere. One of the two pins is also shaped to fit perfectly with Manfrotto’s line of Super Clamps.
The 819 arm spans 18cm/7.1in and can support up to 2.2kg/4.85lb. The 819 is the ideal support to attach a video monitor to a camera. The pivoted pins are 1/4" and 3/8" threaded.
The shortest of the hydrostatic arms at 13cm/5.1in, the 814 is also the most powerful. The pivoting pin is threaded with 1/4" and 3/8’ studs so that it can be attached atop a video camera to support small monitors or other video accessories with an exceptional load capacity of 3.5kg/7.7lb.
The new, lightweight hydrostatic arms feature the revolutionary system that produces a firm lock with very minimal effort. The system is based on principles of modern hydraulics – where force that is applied at one point is transmitted to another point using an incompressible fluid – to create a technically advanced ball locking mechanism. Gently turning the knob of the hydrostat system compresses the oil in the filled chamber, blocking the movement of the ball. Because the force exerted by the liquid is more constant and evenly distributed than that of standard mechanisms, the locking power is dramatically improved over other technologies. The result of this advanced system is that, with just a slight turn of the wrist, the arm securely locks in the desired position to firmly hold any camera, monitor, or accessory.
The development of the innovative Hydrostatic Arms demonstrates Manfrotto’s cutting edge technology and dedication to providing equipment for the evolving needs of videographers.
