Today we are looking at the Fujifilm X-T4, Fujifilm’s latest X-series body. The X-T4 mirrors some of the key features that the X-T3 had such as a 26-megapixel sensor and 4k shooting capability. It also comes with some significant upgrades like a new LCD screen, additional video features and a new shutter design. So why would you upgrade to the X-T4? Let’s find out!
When you first pick up the X-T4, you will feel some slight differences. One you'll notice is a steeper angled grip. You’ll find a much more prominent ridgeline as compared to the X-T3 which has a slightly sloped ridge. They have also re-arranged some of the buttons. On the back of the camera, they have removed the auto-focus locking button and replaced it with just a normal auto-focus button. This is key if you want to separate your focus from your shutter release.
In addition to the auto-focus button, they’ve made it quicker and easier to move back and forth from photo and video. That button is underneath the shutter speed dial and can simply be toggled back and forth.

Now the biggest change is obviously the screen. With the X-T4, we finally have a fully articulating screen. It can also be reversed to protect the screen while storing it. It also has an increased resolution compared to the X-T3 with 1.63 million pixels LCD and 3.69 million pixels EVF. Like the X-T3, the X-T4 can accommodate two SD cards. However, we do see a higher battery compacity that allows for 600 shots per charge compared to 390 shots in the X-T3.

Internally, the X-T4 now supports a 5-axis in-body stabilization which is something the previous X-T3 lacked. It also has a new focal plane shutter design which is quite a bit quieter than the X-T3. It can also shoot up to 15 FPS in mechanical shutter mode, up to 20 FPS in electronic shutter mode and up to 30 FPS if using crop mode in the electronic shutter mode.

The redesign of the shutter has also doubled its durability. The X-T4 is rated to up to 300,000 shots compared to 150,000 shots in the X-T3.

In regards to video, we see huge improvements in standard HD slow motion, with the ability to go up to 240 FPS or 10 percent of real-time if your shooting at 24p. The 4K possibilities are going to remain similar to the X-T3, with the same 4K/60p, 4:2:2 on external HDMI and 4:2:0 bit in internal SD. Fujifilm also adds one more film simulation to this new body, the Eterna Bleach Bypass, which features low saturation and high contrast for a really unique look.
