Today, GoPro announced the latest version of its most popular action camera—the GoPro Hero 9. GoPro pulled out all the stops with this new version and continues to amaze us with how many features they can pack inside such a tiny camera.
The HERO 9 Black comes with a 23.6MP sensor for 5K 30P video and incredible 20MP RAW photos with smart photo options—a huge jump from 12MP and 4K in the Hero 8. This groundbreaking camera also includes a new front display, 30% more battery life with a newer larger battery, HyperSmooth 3.0 Image Stabilization and TimeWarp 3.0 improvements.
Both the Hero 8 and Hero 9 cameras can live stream at 1080p, but now, the Hero 9 can live stream 1080p with HyperSmooth on. Users also have the ability to save their live footage on an SD card. HyperSmooth and TimeWarp have also been improved. HyperSmooth 3.0 enables in-camera horizon leveling, and boost in all settings. The TimeWarp feature, when switched into live mode, will record audio. Users can choose either Real Speed or Half Speed for epic slow-mo with the new Speed Ramp capability.
Another huge feature is the ability to use this camera as a webcam. Users can utilize additional mounts to create an ideal webcam setup. Not to mention, it features a new front display for easy framing—perfect for vlogging or selfies. The Hero 9 comes with a whole suite of Power Tools including HindSight, LiveBurst, Scheduled Capture and Duration Capture.
With the new Linear + Horizon Leveling digital lens, in-camera horizon leveling (up to 45% tilt) is now possible—helping stabilize your footage. GoPro is also releasing a new MAX mount in October which provides a wider focal range and improved stabilization.
The GoPro Hero 9 is available now for $449.95 or for $50 more you can get the bundle which includes the HERO9 Black, the Handler (Floating Hand Grip), Magentic Swivel Clip, 32GB SD card, spare battery and case.
