Antelope Island State Park

Recap

We had such an amazing experience at our Bison Roundup Photowalk this past Saturday! Thanks to the early access, we were able to set up and capture some incredible images of the cowboys as they got ready to ride out. We arrived at Fielding Garr Ranch around 7:45am which was perfect timing for sunrise and the golden morning light was the icing on the cake.

Description

Hosted each year at Antelope Island State Park, the Bison Roundup is a primary tool utilized to help ensure the continued health of one of the nation’s largest and oldest public bison herds. Take the chance to photograph the cowboys and bison in action!

The beautiful scenery of Antelope Island State Park is about a one-hour drive from Salt Lake City. Check-in will be at the parking lot right before the Antelope Island entrance booth at 7am. Please be on time! Antelope Island State Park has graciously provided us with wristbands allowing us early access and free entrance into the park.

Once everyone has their wristband, we will drive down to the ranch. The general public is allowed in after 8am. It takes about 30 minutes to drive down to the Ranch from the entrance booth.

From 7:45-9am we will capture the cowboys getting ready. At 9am the cowboys ride off to corral the Bison scattered across the park. After 9am, attendees are free to roam the park and continue shooting from the Eastside.

Keep in mind, this event has been known to be very well attended and parking can be limited after 9am. If possible, we recommend carpooling.
