December

4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. (MST)
City Creek Center

Recap

The holidays were certainly made merry and bright with friends of pictureline at our inaugural photo walk on December 11. Sponsored by Nikon, a small group of photographers, joined by pictureline employees, braved the cold and traveled around the City Creek area to shoot the sights of the season. We were able to capture the hustle and bustle of holiday shoppers, the beautiful holiday lights, and even some movement in the trails in front of the ZCMI building.

Description

Join Pictureline on a wintry holiday walk through the city to shoot the sights of the season. Our inaugural photo walk event will take us around the City Creek area, where the lights are shining, and spirits are bright. Be sure to wear your warm clothes, and bring a tripod for your camera! Our Nikon rep will be there to answer any questions as well. You don't need to be a Nikon fan to join in the fun – all brands are welcome!

1) City Creek Commons

We’ll meet up just outside the entrance to City Creek Commons near the circular fountain. Here we’ll cover a few low-light photography techniques before we get going.

2) Skybridge

Capture the hustle and bustle of the holidays while overlooking the crowds along Main Street. You’ll experiment with slower shutter speeds in order to show motion in a still photo.

3) The Garden

Here we’ll focus on shooting holiday lights. We’ll talk about white balance, bokeh, and how to achieve starburst and other special effects.

4) Main Street Plaza

Make this year’s family portrait shine! You’ll learn how to properly light your subject with a flash while maintaining a festive holiday background.

Don’t forget to share your new photos with us on social media with #picturelinephotowalk so we can see each other’s work.
