Cutting-edge quality with an all-new 20MP CMOS sensor

At the heart of the EOS R6 is a newly developed, 20MP full frame CMOS sensor. This sensor, based on the award-winning Canon 1D X Mark III DSLR, provides the perfect balance between resolving ability, speed, and memory utilization. High-volume shooters or those not making massive enlargements will appreciate the balance met with the resolution provided with the EOS R6.

DIGIC X image processor

If the 20MP CMOS sensor is the heart of the R6, the brain is undoubtedly the DIGIC X image processor. Originally introduced in the EOS 1D X Mark III DSLR, the DIGIC X processor allows an unbelievable ISO range of 100-102400. Thanks to this, shooting in less than ideal lighting conditions, or with slower lenses is no longer a limitation. Expandable up to ISO 204800, the R6 will be able to capture detail and retain image quality in nearly any lighting environment thanks to the DIGIC X.

Lightning fast for every occasion

Unlike previous high resolution digital cameras, the added resolution of the EOS R6 does not come at the expense of speed. Shooting speeds of up to 12 fps with the mechanical shutter, or 20 fps when shooting with the electronic silent shutter, allow photographers to capture split-second details between even the fastest moving subjects. Whether it’s a snowboarder in the half pipe, or a bride assaulting her new hubby with the wedding cake, subjects will be captured in full detail, with autofocus keeping them tack-sharp throughout the shooting sequence.

In-Body Image Stabilizer (IBIS)

The EOS R6 incorporates a 5-axis in-body image stabilization (IBIS). Thanks to this new system, any lens used on the EOS R6 becomes stabilized, and when used with Canon EF & RF lenses that incorporate optical image stabilization technology, the camera’s built-in system works in conjunction to allow for an industry leading 8-stops of shake correction.

Deep learning AF technology

Face and eye AF technology is not new, but the EOS R6 is bringing the concept to a whole new level. The R6 utilizes a learning technology to locate a person’s head or eye when people detection is set, allowing for easier and more accurate subject tracking while shooting. Additionally, the R6 is incorporating animal detection for the first time in a Canon camera, which will allow the R6 to effectively track the body, face or eyes of cats, dogs or birds, regardless of the animal’s size, posture, or orientation of the face.

Unparalleled durability

In spite of its lightweight and comfortable design, the EOS R6 is built to last. Internal seals in critical areas like buttons, terminal covers, battery compartment and card slot cover allow the camera to work flawlessly in a variety of poor weather conditions, and a newly designed shutter, rated up to 300k cycles, provides years of shooting enjoyment.

RF 24-105mm f/4-7.1 IS STM Lens

Included with the Canon EOS R6 Mirrorless Digital Camera Body is the versatile Canon RF 24-105mm f/4-7.1 Lens. This compact and feature-packed lens is a great addition to the EOS R6 for range, but without the size and weight of other options. The RF 24-105mm f/4-7.1 will cover everything from moderate wide-angle landscape shots to traditional portraits, and has a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2, making it versatile for nearly every shooting scenario. The optical image stabilizer allows for handheld operation at slower shutter speeds and minimization of camera shake while recording video, and the STM focusing motor provides fast and ultra-quiet operation while still allowing full-time manual focus override. As with other RF lenses, the integrated control ring allows assignment to control a variety of settings, customizing the operation to individual preference.
