Canon has re-envisioned optical performance by incorporating a Super UD element, and six UD elements. Fluorine-coated front and rear elements round out the design by providing additional resistance to dirt, moisture and oils, while the L-series construction with dust and moisture resistance provides reliable performance even in the worst shooting conditions.

Compatible with New Extenders

For the ultimate in long-distance shooting, the RF 100-500mm f4.5-7.1l IS USM is also compatible with the new RF 1.4x and 2x Extenders from 300-500mm. An internal stop will prevent zooming below 300mm when used with these extenders. Using the 1.4x will provide a focal length range of 420-700mm, and the 2x a range of 600-1000mm.
