This years Cowboys & Cattle photowalk was one for the books. Celebrated Western photographer, Chris Dickinson hosted the photowalk at a private ranch where our attendees were able to work directly with Chris and the crew of cowboys documenting their annual cattle branding. Chris welcomed attendees by introducing them to the modern ranchers who operate that land. He informed attendees of what modern ranch life consists of and ranch etiquette before inviting each individual into the corral while the cowboys wrangled the cattle. Chris instructed each individual which lens to use and what position to get in to capture visually compelling images. As Chris mentioned in his lecture at photoX, cattle branding for ranchers is like their super bowl... everyone had a great time connecting with fellow photographers as well as the family of ranchers who hosted us there.
Description
Join Chris Dickinson for an immersive experience capturing authentic ranch life at a private cattle ranch. Get up close to the action as cowboys round up and brand cattle, and learn new photography skills directly from Chris himself.
Participants will be stationed safely around the periphery of the branding corral and individually have the opportunity to enter the center of the action alongside Chris and the entire branding crew, providing you an exclusive close up photography experience.
We will be meeting at the Park and Ride in West Haven, UT at 7am and carpooling over to the ranch. Please be on time.
Common courtesy on the ranch, DO NOT speed when entering or leaving. Please maintain 5 to 10 mph. Keep in mind, there are no bathrooms.
