Dazzling Catchlights
The Apollo Orb's circular design simulates the appearance of the sun in your subject's eyes, allowing for pristine portraiture without distracting reflections.
Designed for On-The-Go Photographers
With flexible framework and instant umbrella-style setup, these modifiers are designed for busy photographers. Each Apollo and Halo softbox packs up quickly and can be thrown into any gear bag for effortless travel and storage.
For Speedlites and Strobes
Do you shoot with both types of off-camera flash? Thanks to the Apollo and Halo’s versatile umbrella shaft, these modifiers can be instantly paired with both speedlites and strobes. With these softboxes, you won’t be confined to using a single lighting style or forced into buying various modifiers.
Say Goodbye to Speedrings and Rods
Unlike most softboxes, these modifiers are constructed with an umbrella-style frame. Not only does this allow for the instant assembly, but it also allows for quick strobe mounting without bulky speedrings or adapters.
Equipped with the Latest Technology
Since their introduction in 1985, these umbrella-style softboxes have been enhanced based upon consumer requests. The latest Apollo design features a recessed edge, flexible fiberglass frame, and removable outer diffusion panel.
Premium Diffusion Fabric
Our diffusion panels are constructed with a premium, all-natural unbleached nylon fabric. Unlike processed diffusion fabrics, these diffusers will soften your light source without altering its color temperature.
Direct and Soften Light
By directing your light source toward the Apollo’s included diffusion front, you’ll create drastic highlights with a subtle hot spot. By directing your unit towards the back of Apollo, you’ll create an even spread of light with softer shadows. You can even pick up an optional 40-degree Egg Crate Grid for more light control options.
Control Focus and Maximize Output
Apollo softboxes are manufactured with a highly-reflective silver interior for optimized light output. This output can be precisely focused by placing your light source as close or as far from the back of the Apollo to achieve the look you desire.
Uncompromising Light Control
Grids are made up of cells that control off-axis light in 4 directions while still maintaining the soft quality you want from a large light source. By focusing light through a grid, you eliminate both light spill and lens flare simultaneously for precise illumination.
The Hair Light Perfected
By allowing you to perfectly focus your light source on a defined area, grids are the essential accessory for your hair light or rim light. When modified with a grid and softbox, your light can illuminate your subject from behind without light spilling onto your backdrop to gain stunning dimension and depth in your portraiture.
The Science Behind 40-Degree
A 40-degree grid is the most popular choice for photographers and filmmakers, allowing for precise light control with limited loss of light. Light loss at the center axis is minimal, even at a distance 3 to 4 times the diagonal of the softbox. This typically results in losing less than 1/4-stop.
Instant Placement
Our 40-degree Grids easily attach to the front of your softbox with ultra-durable Velcro™ material Apollo softboxes are designed with a recessed edge, giving you the ability to use your diffusion panel and 40-degree grid simultaneously.
Perfect for Travel
These soft, compact grids collapse down instantly for streamlined travel and storage in their included bag.
Easy to Mount
Shooting with strobes or monolights? Most studio lights include a built-in umbrella receptacle for instant mounting.
Shooting with speedlites? There are a variety of mounting brackets available with adjustable and tiltable options for precise positioning.
