It has been an exciting week for Canon! A couple of remarkable new zoom lenses are accompanying the release of the new EOS 5D Mark IV!
The recent announcement of the Canon 16-35mm III USM Lens has led to rumors that the new model is slightly larger, more durable, and resistant to dust and dirt. The physical reconstruction has resulted in significantly sharper edge-to-edge images, reduced flare, and softer backgrounds.
For years, Canon's 16-35mm f/2.8 II USM has been a staple lens in the bags of photographers who shoot outdoors, architecture, events, or are simply seeking wide angles with minimal distortion. While the f/2.8 is sought after in many scenarios to solve substandard lighting conditions, Canon’s 16-35mm f/4 IS USM is famously sharper from corner to corner; we anticipate comparable image quality in their latest 16-35mm f/2.8 III USM to the earlier f/4 version.
The EF 24–105mm f4/L IS II USM also shows dramatic improvement with its dust and water resistant exterior, and new optical composition.
These improvements help increase reliability in any environment, and peripheral brightness for better edge-to-edge results with reduced distortion, delivering still photos and video of great clarity and resolution.
For consistently sharper results, the EF 24–105mm f/4L IS II USM features an improved Image Stabilizer system that provides significantly enhanced shake reduction for up to 4 stops* of shutter speeds. This means more reliable handheld performance and clearer detail in low-light situations or at lower ISOs. Because of its enhanced stabilization, the EF 24–105mm f/4L IS II USM can also minimize the need for a tripod.
